Froshes are awesome, multi-day events run by student organizations and bring new students together in a social environment. They are an excellent way to get oriented to the city and to social life at McGill. You can register for your Faculty Frosh or for any of the Non-Faculty Froshes. Regardless of what you end up doing, no new student’s welcome to McGill would be as memorable without doing a Frosh!
1. Non-Faculty Frosh
Dates vary. (Generally take place anytime between Thursday, August 30 and Monday, September 3.)
Open to: All new undergraduate students starting in Winter (January) or Fall (September) 2018.
There are 5 different Non-Faculty Froshes:
Rad Frosh is an alternative orientation based around principles of social and environmental justice, and we prioritize inclusivity, accessibility, and safety. You will get to meet like-minded students, take part in a variety of workshops and walking tours, and get acquainted with a wide range of campus groups and broader Montréal communities. Rad Frosh this year will host many evening events, including a performance night, BBQ in the park, benefit concert and dance party, and a huge Queer Prom.

The aim of Outdoor Frosh is to welcome incoming students and acquaint them with the wilderness we have just outside Montreal. You will be led by current McGill students and will get to meet other incoming students. Whether you chose to take part in a hiking trip, white-water kayaking*, climbing, or another option, you can expect to meet some incredible people and enjoy what Quebec has to offer.

Fish Frosh is a non-alcoholic (“dry”) orientation week that welcomes all new incoming students! Our events, including a citywide scavenger hunt, mountaintop picnic, apartment crawl, chill activities, and themed dinners – intend to provide a fun and comfortable environment regardless of one’s religious background. Participants will have the chance to make meaningful friendships spanning university, explore Montreal’s culture, find strong and active campus communities, and begin McGill life on an incomparably welcoming note!

Across the Jewniverse is an alternative frosh run by the student-run Jewish community of Montreal known as Ghetto Shul. At Ghetto Shul, we love being able to introduce students to Jewish life on campus! From meals, to prayers, to parties – we can’t wait to show you all the best parts of Jewish life at McGill! Join us for Friday night dinner during Frosh Week, and fun events throughout the year!

Dates may vary. Most take place between Thursday, August 30 and Sunday, September 2. Frosh at the Macdonald Campus takes place between August 27 and September 2.

Taking place right before the beginning of the year, Frosh is designed to introduce you to Montreal, life on campus, and people you will be spending the next few years with in an inclusive and fun atmosphere. With a wide variety of different activities, you’re sure to have fun. Join us for Arts Frosh 2018: Camp Frosh for 4 unforgettable action-packed days of making new friends and getting to know McGill, all the while exploring the best places the city has to offer.
For new students entering into the Faculty of Arts, School of Social Work, or School of Religious Studies.

Arts & Science Orientation has a mysterious and exciting 2018 Frosh in store! Our Frosh provides the perfect combination of community and openness with small intimate events, as well as large collaborative events where students mingle with other McGill Froshes. Frosh to the Future is 4 days of activities planned for the 2018 incoming cohort of students in Physical and Occupational Therapy. Participants will be able to interact with upper-year students (Leaders and Coords) and ask them questions about various things, such as their classes, the PTOT student life, the graduate program, and much more! Frosh’s main goal is also to simply give incoming PTOT students a pleasant experience before they start their McGill journey. The Frosh bracelet price includes various activities: from sports day to scavenger hunts to night crawls, there is enough to allow every participant to enjoy themselves!

With the guidance of Frosh Leaders (upper-year McGill students who undergo intensive harm reduction and leadership training in preparation for Frosh), The Infroshables is an incoming student’s chance to experience what McGill has to offer.
